Las Cosmos podcast becomes the go-to podcast for Latinos in Spain, marking a pivotal moment in culture
Las Cosmos Podcast has become the go-to podcast for Latinos in Spain, marking a cultural milestone.
Hosted by Nuria Net, Las Cosmos Podcast successfully concludes its first season after releasing five episodes where the journalist and entrepreneur engages with Cosmolatines who are transforming culture in Spain. From emerging artists to pioneers in the arts, each guest has shared their unique experiences of migration, identity, and creativity, highlighting the global impact of the Latin diaspora.
‘This space is for voices that break stereotypes and pave the way for future generations,’ says Nuria, who is also the creator of Las Cosmos, a platform dedicated to celebrating hybrid identities and the richness of Cosmolatine stories. Las Cosmos represents this new generation of Latinas and Latinos—Cosmolatines—who are influencing culture and defying traditional standards of ‘identity.’ The podcast has become a platform amplifying these voices and a benchmark program for Latinos in Spain.
The inaugural season of Las Cosmos podcast features interviews with prominent Cosmolatines who are an example of this generation:
- Mela Pabón, a creative artist known for her astrology persona: Madame Mela. She reflected on creative blocks and her personal journey moving from Puerto Rico to Spain.
- LuisLo, from the breakout band Çantamarta, shared his path from playing covers in the streets of Granada to signing with Rimas –Bad Bunny’s label– and how his Colombian, Venezuelan, and Spanish roots influence his music.
- Rocío Quillahuaman, a creative artist born in Peru and raised in Barcelona. She explained how her anger and migrant identity have fueled her success in the world of animation.
- Sofía “Flaca” Conti, of mixed Argentine and Basque heritage, Sofía spoke for the first time about leaving her thriving DJ career in the challenging music industry.
- Gad Yola, a drag queen who released her first album La Travesti del Perú this year. She discussed the importance of decolonizing music, the drag scene, and the challenges of being a queer migrant child.
‘Others in the industry tell me, “I want to be you; I want to do a Flaca”’ highlighted Sofía Conti, showcasing the deep and authentic conversations that define Las Cosmos Podcast.
A growing platform celebrating shared Cosmos stories
Las Cosmos is a vibrant space on social media (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Substack newsletter, WhatsApp group) where all diverse stories of mixed identities and the roots of each Cosmolatine are celebrated. It represents not only those who have left their homes but also those who have found new families and opportunities in distant lands. This platform showcases the richness of our shared stories, connecting people who live, work, and create in hybrid environments.
With collaborations featuring influencers and artists from the cultural scene, Las Cosmos is the ideal place to discover new talents and keep up to date on the latest in the arts.
The platform not only celebrates art but also fosters important discussions. For instance, the concept of Venequia, explored by journalist Leonor C. Suárez, opens a political dialogue about migration and identity in a viral Instagram video shared by artists such as Danny Ocean.
The platform has seen notable organic growth, connecting with audiences in Spain, the United States, and Latin America who resonate with these stories of resilience and transformation.
‘We are a new generation of global citizens. We belong here and there, and I call this generation Cosmos,’ explains Nuria. From the impact of Latin music in Spain to the rise of Latin creatives in cities like Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia, Las Cosmos highlights the role of the diaspora in shaping a new hybrid culture.
Available on YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, and iVoox, Las Cosmos podcast has established itself as a reference space for Latin communities in Spain and Europe.
Global recognition and future projections
As part of its international projection, Las Cosmos was featured in Amazon Music’s Latin Podcast Month campaign, gaining visibility on social media, the Amazon Music app, and the iconic digital billboards in Times Square, New York.
Additionally, Las Cosmos organizes meetups and events in Spain to continue strengthening the Cosmolatine community, bringing creatives and dreamers together in a space where every story finds its voice.
In October, the platform held its first event at La Parcería, a renowned Latin community space in Madrid. In November, it celebrated its second successful event at Espacio Late in Malasaña, a self-managed venue run by Ibero-American journalists from Revista Late.
‘We are changing society, and telling these stories is essential,’ concludes Nuria. ‘Las Cosmos is not just a podcast; it’s a movement that celebrates the richness of our shared identities and the impact of Cosmolatines on global culture.’
