Las Cosmos podcast Ep.4 – Sofía “Flaca” Conti

November 14, 2024

Sofía Conti (@flacabangbang) emigrated from Argentina to San Sebastián when she was eleven years old. She went on to become the renowned DJ Flaca, a pioneer in bringing reggaeton and Latin beats to clubs such as Primavera Sound, Arenal Sound and Boiler Room and festivals in Spain. She was one of the founders of Dimelow (music sessions to dance a sensual reggaeton style known as perreo that completely broke the mold in the music scene) and CHICA (a collective group that creates safe spaces for women and the LGTBIQ community in music).

In this episode, Sofia tells us what it meant to ‘do a Flaca’ – that is, to take a step back in the music industry – and how she now lives her life as a ‘normal girl’. She also shares her hobbies, reflects on what it means to be Latina in Europe and the impact it has had on her life, and talks about her mission to see more representation and diversity of Latines in cultural spaces.

In the first season of Las Cosmos podcast, we explore Latin arts and culture in Spain, with creative Cosmolatines who are at the forefront. If you want to discover new talent and keep up with what’s happening in the cultural scene, this is your space.
